Siyona Ravi’s installation explores the erotics of care and self discovery through gestures, materials, and drawings that question where the self begins and ends. Exercise mats are coated in oils and vibrate at low frequencies sensed only through touch. Broken ceramic vessels are scattered throughout, some held together in loose tension with physical therapy resistance bands, others left in shards.  A small monitor loops IV drips falling in rhythm with prayer beads counted, and two hands intertwined in a dance of push and pull. Visitors are invited to linger near what is broken, unstable, and alive, dissolving. Through collaborations with loved ones, and ongoing studies in disability theory and haptic bodywork, Ravi seeks to practice a care that queers and crips the ways we come into ourselves and entanglements with others.
